Immediately after the completion of the required core courses, all graduate students enrolled in the doctoral program in Mechanical Engineering will be required to take the Qualifying Examination. In order to facilitate graduate students entering the ME Graduate Program in either the Fall or the Spring semester, the qualifying Examination will be offered twice annually during late January or during late May or early June. It is noted that the GRA and GTA student support contracts approximately cover the period of August 15 through June 15. Thus, both the Laboratory experience and the Qualifying Examination requirement are expected to be completed outside the regular semester but during periods for which the new student is on either full or partial GTA or GRA contracts.
