The Black Artists Society is an organization established to bring visual aesthetics to UMBC and its surrounding community from a black American perspective. The artwork created within the organization is an expression of characteristics within the black culture.
The Black Artists Society welcomes other organizations who need us to provide artistry to a particular event or for any other reason in regards to their organization.
As the organization grows, different components will be included based on an initial proposal from the UMBC community and/or from the members who are interested and who will take on this agenda responsibly and productively.
Although one of the organization's main objectives is to provide for other organizations, hosting our own events is just as important.
The Black Artists Society aspires to create an aesthetic environment that will create appreciation for art, culture and life.
We aspire to not only expose issues within culture but we aspire to find a solution through art. It is necessary that we create a beauty that is respected and that is a necessity to empowering the UMBC community.
